The form of cooking involving cooking of flour using prolonged heat is called baking. The art of baking was developed early during the Roman Empire. The Romans were believed to be great patrons of baked goods and thus were frequently a delicacy in festivals and dinner.Baking gradually gained popularity and was converted to the status of occupation due to its popularity. The world’s oldest oven dating back 6500 years ago was discovered in Croatia in 2014.

Pre-cut bread was introduced to mankind by Otto Frederick Rohwedder on July 7, 1928 in a bakery in Chillicothe, Missouri. Initially it failed to gain popularity because it stalled faster but slowly gained popularity later.

In World War II bread slicing machines were effectively banned, as the metal in them was required for war. After both the world wars ended, the actual boom of bakery products took place. Medium and big scale companies started manufacturing large amounts of baked products to quench the post-war deprived earthlings. Baked products were easy to manufacture since machinery started improving post war especially in the USA, moreover people started creating a taste for baked goods.
