As a “Best of the Best” in the orthodontist category, Dr. Anand Patel and The Brace Place team join a select handful of local, Oklahoma orthodontists that rise above the rest for 2022-2023.
The Brace Place has consistently won a spot on the “Best of the Best” list since 2011 and it’s no wonder this Tulsa and Claremore, OK team receives accolades year after year. Dr. Patel’s two decades of orthodontic expertise has resulted in thousands of happy, healthy smiles. And as a Gold Plus Invisalign Provider for 2022, Dr. Patel is an expert in Invisalign treatment, planning treatments that result in beautiful outcomes.
Whether with braces or Invisalign®, for kids or adults, Dr. Patel believes that everyone deserves a smile transformation that can change their life. He, himself has experienced the life-changing effect of a confident, new smile and wants his patients to experience the same health and freedom.
The Brace Place Approach
Dr. Patel utilizes the latest technology and techniques, treating his patients with individualized care in a comfortable, family-friendly setting. He takes the time to build relationships with his patients and wants the best for their orthodontic and oral health.
On that note, since Halloween has just passed and everyone is knee-deep in candy, Dr. Patel and The Brace Place team want braces-wearers to know they can enjoy their Halloween haul in a braces- and teeth-friendly way. Here are some pointers when it comes to braces and candy.
Candy To Avoid
Some foods can damage or break braces, leading to a delay in treatment. For Halloween, braces-wearers should avoid any candy that’s crunchy, hard, sticky, or gummy, including:
- Caramel and taffy
- Hard candies and lollipops
- Chewy candy like jelly beans, licorice, and fruit snacks
- Bubble gum
- Candy with nuts
Candy To Enjoy
Those with braces can enjoy candy that isn’t too hard and doesn’t have caramel or nuts in it. With chocolate, let it melt in the mouth a little before biting into it or enjoy small pieces at a time. Candy that is ok for braces includes:
- Chocolate kisses
- Peanut butter cups
- Peppermint patties
- Powdery candy (like Pixy Sticks)
- Small chocolate candy like plain M&Ms or Reese’s Pieces
An additional tip from Dr. Patel? Brush and floss extra well post-Halloween. All the sugar that collects on teeth and around braces from Halloween candy can contribute to tooth decay and cavities.
